This partnership project
has enabled Rochdale Law Centre to successfully
facilitate a series of training programmes specifically
for unemployed people in the Borough who have
an interest in working or volunteering in the
advice sector.
The purpose of the 10 week training programmes
is to give learners an overview of the key issues
within specific areas of law this will enable
people working, training or volunteering to
have a better understanding of the issues that
people are facing and be able to appropriately
signpost them to the correct advice, information
and support.
The areas of law covered on these short courses
are:
- Housing
- Immigration
- Employment and discrimination
Funded by New Learning
in Deprived Communities Fund – (NLDCF)
We are able to provide
training for other organisations and are in
particular keen to work with our partners and
potential referring organisations to raise awareness
of key issues so that referring workers and
volunteers are well informed and able to make
appropriate referrals.
An example of this type of
training is our Spotting the Issues workshop
which provides information around discrimination
issues so that advisors can identify when discrimination
is taking place. Often clients are presenting
a range of issues and are not immediately aware
that they have been discriminated against.
If you are interested
or have an idea for training for your staff,
volunteers or service users please do not hesitate
to get in touch with us. info@rochdalelawcentre.org.uk
